In the last 10 years, the Romanian grape variety Fetească Neagră has scored a significant development both in popularity and in quality. The red wines obtained from this variety of grapes became top products for certain wine producers in Romania, both in terms of quality, but prices as well. At the beginning, in the category of premium wines, Fetească Neagră was blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but gradually, in this category, wines obtained 100% from Fetească Neagră appeared. Due to the potential of representing Romania after the Carménère – Chile , Malbec – Argentina and Pinotage – South Africa model, more and more experts from the wine trade (especially from abroad) have seen in Fetească Neagră the main engine that could impel the image of Romanian wines for export. In order to bring into operation this engine it is absolutely necessary to know how it works, which are the conditions in which it can develop maximum power and which are the attributes that characterizes and individualizes it.

Daca la inceput in categoria de preturi premium, vinurile obtinute din Feteasca Neagra au fost folosite in cupaje sau asamblaje alaturi de Cabernet Sauvignon si Merlot, treptat au aparut in aceasta categorie si vinuri obtinute 100% din Feteasca Neagra. Tot mai multi specialisti din lumea vinului (in special din strainatate) au vazut in Feteasca Neagra principalul motor care ar putea propulsa imaginea vinurilor romanesti la export, soiul avand potentialul de a reprezenta Romania dupa modelul Carmenere – Chile, Malbec – Argentina, Pinotage – Africa de Sud. Insa pentru a pune in functiune acest motor e imperios necesar sa stim cum functioneaza, care sunt conditiile in care el poate dezvolta maximul de putere si care sunt atributele care il caracterizeaza si il individualizeaza.
Dintr-o ambitie personala de a intelege si cunoaste Feteasca Neagra am luat initiativa de a organiza in colaboare cu Enoteca Millesime din Oradea, o serie de degustari comparative cu vinuri obtinute 100% din Feteasca Neagra. Seria se numeste Best of Feteasca Neagra iar primul episod s-a desfasurat in seara de luni 18 februarie.
